After striking out in the food scene in Puerto Rico I was ready to give up on finding a meal that was above average. The food in Puerto Rico was okay and it was overpriced. But then a local told me about Bebo’s Barbeque. He told me the portions were big, the food was good, and the prices were low.
Bebo’s BBQ is in Carolina, just outside of San Juan. There is also a Bebo’s Café in San Juan, but apparently Bebo’s BBQ in Carolina is better, so that’s where we went. On our way back from Fajardo, we decided it was a perfect time to check out Bebo’s BBQ. When we arrived, we saw the line, we so the sign and thought this place might be good.
Bebo’s is branded as a Latin American and creole barbecue joint. Bebo’s BBQ is a roadside open air dining experience where you can try Puerto Rican and Latin American barbeque and meats. When you eat at Bebo’s BBQ, you feel like you are eating at a typical Latin American restaurant. The menu was large, and there were too many things we wanted to try. After waiting a long time in line, we ordered way too much food and sat down to see if Bebo’s was all it cracked up to be.
We ordered ribs, chicken, Puerto Rican sausages, yuca, fries, rice and of course a beer. The food was good, but not excellent. The food was flavorful, but it was a bit dry, but if you want to fill up on meat and barbeque, I would definitely recommend it. Not to mention, we got a feast for two people for under $40 USD. We left stuffed and with plenty of leftovers for the next day.
The atmosphere was cool, the food was pretty good and the price was good. Overall, I’d recommend Bebo’s if you’re ever in or around San Juan Puerto Rico, especially compared to most of the other restaurants we ate at in San Juan.
