Vegas is Vegas, and if you’ve got money to blow, like to gamble, drink and watch shows you’ll have a blast. The hotels all have themes and as long as you’re not staying in a dive like Circus Circus or something of a similar caliber then the hotels will generally be nice and offer many of the same amenities.
When you’re in Las Vegas, you will do a lot of walking regardless of your hotel; but picking a hotel in an optimal location can ease the amount of steps and provide an atmosphere that will set the tone for your trip. At Planet Hollywood, you will be in a prime location for your trip. Planet Hollywood is in the center of the strip so depending on your plans, it’s easy to go wherever you desire. When you step out of the hotel to the right there is Paris, the Flamingo and a side street with a number of restaurants like In N’ Out Burger and the Ferris Wheel, then Treasure Island and further down the more luxurious resorts. To the left you have MGM Grand, New York New York and further down there is Luxor, Mandalay etc. There is a pharmacy next door, a small mall and the best of all, Cabo Wabo Cantina where you can get extremely large and extremely delicious margaritas and drinks in all flavors to fill the large and colourful obnoxious cups.
There are also a number of restaurants in Planet Hollywood, including PF Chang’s which was good and Café Hollywood which we had for breakfast one day. The service was good, the breakfast was excellent and the vibe and décor was good.
The casino itself is expansive, and has a Hollywood feel to it. The carpets and tables are bright red, there are lots of bars, lots of people and lots of lights; it is a vibrant casino with a vibrant atmosphere. There are no major nightclubs in the hotel that are worthwhile visiting, but that’s okay you can head on over to another casino if you’d like. As for gambling, there are plenty of machines and tables to gamble at, and there are a few GoGo dancer on some of the tables. Although, when I went my first time, I recalled that there were even more and hotter ones last time. The casino was always busy and buzzing and was even lively when we returned at 3 AM in the night and left at 4 AM for our flight on our final day.
The rooms were nice, but nothing spectacular. They were clean, and the bathroom was nice with a good shower and tub, but we didn’t go to Vegas to stay in our hotel room, so the room is the least important part of the review.
I can’t comment on the pool because when we went it was March, the weather was just starting to warm up so we didn’t bother checking out the pool, but it looks nice and from friends of mine who have went there, it was a pretty good pool deck with two big pools, one for families and one that is 21 plus.
Overall:
Atmosphere – good
Location – excellent
Restaurants – good
Rooms – okay
Casino – good
Price – excellent
All in all, Planet Hollywood was a good hotel to stay at. The price is good and for a slightly better middle of the line hotel you’ll be happy with the price. Compared to all other hotels within the price range, Planet Hollywood is likely the best bang for the buck.
In the album below, the last 6 photos are around the hotel, within 5-10 minutes of walking distance
